What Can DMSO Cure And Help Prevent? How Is It Applied?

I've searched dozens of documents on the internet and cannot find one that tells exactly how DMSO is used. I just ordered a small bottle and don't know if it should be diluted and where it should be applied. If it has to be diluted before being applied then how many parts water to parts DMSO should I use? Should I put it on different parts of the body to help prevent and cure different things and for how many days per week or month should it be used?
This question is very broad. Please try to answer all my questions if you can. Thank you.

As stated in an earlier answer, DMSO is an industrial solvent. About 30 years ago it was found to be able to stop pain. Many pro and amature athletes began using it because they found no immediate side effects other smelling like garlic and having garlic breath. People were drinking it straight for ulcers and applying it directly to the skin for other problems. Not long after this phenomena and the fact that the medical community could not explain why it did what it did and did not hurt you it became outlawed or hard to get. You can use it in solution or at 100%. Depending on what you are using it for I would suggest using it either way.

DMSO does not cure anything; it does however stop the pain. I know, I have used it on an ankle injury. One minute I could not walk, the next I was running as good as new. Pain free. I could still feel the injury but no pain. Now the real amazing thing was that I did not cause further damage even though I was full out while I was playing, running and stuff.

As far as how often, that's up to you. Remember, DMSO does not prevent or cure anything but it does allow you to participate in certain tasks. If you are injured and need medical attention you will still need medical attention after using DMSO.

Good Luck

Dimethyl sulfoxide is just a solvent. It doesn't do anything except allow polar and non-polar solutes to dissolve in the same liquid. That means things that dissolve in water and things that don't. There are only those two categories. Soap does the same thing. That's why when you use soap, the oil on your skin, which would not otherwise dissolve in the running water, now does, and you clean your hands.

DMSO transports whatever is dissolved into it, through your skin. It is a dangerous substance for that reason. It is like an open wound. Anything can now get past your skin barrier and into your tissue. It has no medicinal value, but has been used to transport poisons into people's bodies.

This answer will seem vague, because there are so many uses for DMSO. I don't know how you got a bottle, because in Oklahoma it is limited to veterinarians.

However, I'd recommend you dilute it 50/50 with water and apply sparingly to whatever joint or sore you are trying to heal. If not diluted, it will leave a bitter garlic taste and odor in your mouth and can be quite unpleasant. As to long term use, since it isn't recommended for human use, you will not be able to find much on it. If you put it on with your hands, be sure you wash your hands thoroughly after using. I use Q-tips to apply it.

Before she died, my mother had severe rheumatoid arthritis and I used diluted DMSO on her joints, which gave her relief. I have neuropathy in my feet, and sometimes use diluted DMSO to relieve the nerve pain.

I don't know if this helps. I have a book on DMSO, but am unable to get that to you, of course,

has anyone ever used DMSO? Its a curative product that was squelched by the FDA,?

anyway, since the FDA and AMA have put the kibosh on numerous cures and relievers, I have been studying them. I have just researched DMSO and purchased some from a website. I was wondering if anyone has tried it , for what, and what were the results?

I think the chemical is really awesome.
I originally found out about it from someone used it to mix it with drugs so they'd absorb into the whole body really quickly. He didn't think that approach was very good since if there were any impurities problems would occur, but some of the chemistry with the substance was fairly interesting, so I went and looked it up.

From what I found online, it appeared that DMSO is "one of the cheap magic chemicals (like hydrogen peroxide)" and it had lots of uses. So I thought about the safety connotations and bought some.
I've personally found it works for the following;
Any tissue which is inflame or sore, especially useful for alleviating carpal tunnel.
Getting other stuff into the body, especially Hydrogen peroxide (which I've used on a few people to get rid of herpes/a cancer)
Random anti oxidant stuff (bit harder to quantify what the purpose of this was).
Migranes (I believe it does this by lowering inter cranial pressure)
Helping a friend with arthritis

The more serious DMSO people advocate a couple thousand other uses for the chemical, but I haven't really tested them.
As far as how the chemical works I can say the following.
A) Do not put too high a concentration on your skin, then it becomes an irritant (then again there are very chemicals this is not true).
B) DMSO itself is completely non toxic (which is very rare for chemicals). I found out from my ochem teacher they actually use it for criogenics since it lowers the freezing point of cells, so cells can be saturated in it and not die (whereas any other thing mixed with water in a high concentration would kill cells).
C) While DMSO is harmless, anything mixed into it becomes much more dangerous since it's able to get into the body very quickly. As such it's generally recommended that you wash the area it's applied to, and use pure DMSO. Many people buy DMSO sold in plastic containers which basically defeats this purpose, so if you plan on purchasing it, I would recommend getting one sold in a glass container.
D) It's bad to but on bug bites.

That's about all I personally know. There are lots of books on the subject. I know that it was never fully tested in trials because 1) it's a cheap multipurpose drug (which big pharma hates) 2) It's impossible to conduct blind trials with since it makes the user give off an odor.
I've only done so much with DMSO thusfar. I think it's a really great chemical, but it's on my list to study further.

Hope that helps!

Coco, why buy something, that you do not under stand. No it will cure nothing. It is a substance that you mix medicines in and will be absorbed faster. For animal medicines, I have heard that some people have try it for arthritics

DMSO is an old remedy I remember from back in the 70s. It's for humans but can be used on animals, too. My vet made me use it when the arsenic injection he used to kill heartworms missed the vein. I had to rub DMSO on my dog's front leg for weeks so (from what I remember back then) her tissue wouldn't die. I have heard that DMSO is the liquid form of MSM, and that DMSO is used on humans for arthritic conditions. I was able to purchase DMSO about two years ago for another animal related illness, and I did so through one of those deep-country feed and tack stores.

One of the drawbacks I strongly remember is that DMSO is absorbed through the skin and leaches a smell out of the mouth. My dog used to breathe in my face when I was putting the DMSO on her leg, and I have not been able to eat canned corn in years (that's because, to me, DMSO smells like the liquid canned corn is packed in).

Just last month, I met someone who swore by DMSO - he's on a natural kick with organics and near-vegan as possible. His breath had an odd odor that I think was DMSO, but I'm not totally positive since I met him that day, and hey, it's been 30 years since I smelled it. It made sense to me, though, because the guy I'm dating started taking MSM and recently has a very similar odor on his breath. Two plus two...eh?

DMSO does absorb through the skin. It immediately imparts a metallic taste in the mouth. Just nasty. I can't remember why it was taken off the market, but I believe that it has serious side effects in humans.

dmso and sski and the cure fo peyronies?

Has anyone try this mix on peyronies and did it help them, please help

Never heard of peyronies, but dmso is horse linement, penetrates the skin, and leaves an awful taste in your mouth for days just from rubbing it in.

Cures For Herpes

Many websites tout Dmso (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) as the ‘be-all and end-all’ herpes cure.

Cures For Herpes Reviews

This may be partially true, but is it safe?

Most pathogens, together with the herpes virus are anaerobic. This means that they cannot reproduce in an oxygen rich cellular environment.

Scientist have established three relevant points.

When applied directly to the infected area: If correctly applied, it will suppress the herpes virus while an outbreak. What is Dimethyl Sulfoxide?

Dimethyl Sulfoxide is an industrial vigor solvent and paint stripper derived from wood pulp. To put it mildly, this chemical has stirred up a hornet’s nest of controversy.

Why?

Because there are some very real dangers associated with its incorrect usage, that’s why!

Although Dimethyl Sulfoxide has not received Fda approval, it does have inescapable curative uses.

Because of its small molecular structure, together with its remarkable solvent properties and its potential to drill the skin, doctors are combining it with other curative substances and using it as a carrier.

Apart from destroying pathogens in vivo, it has proved to be an productive treatment for painful strained muscles and ligaments in sports medicine.

It is also used in a veterinary application, as a horse liniment.

Why is it Dangerous?

The danger exists if Dmso is contaminated with toxic foreign substances or household chemicals. Minute traces of detergents, insecticides or carbolic solutions may cling to the hands, or even the outside of rubber gloves.

Dimethyl Sulfoxide will rapidly suck in pretty much any chemical it touches; therefore it will carry foreign substances directly into the cellular structure.

If these substances happen to be toxic, they could cause serious complications and even death.

This is worth repeating: Dmso has not received Fda approval… Use it at you own peril!
