After being pronounced legally dead, cryonics patients immediately undergo cardiopulmonary support with the use of a heart-lung resuscitator which provides external massage to the heart to keep it pumping in an effort to retain healthy organs before the blood is replaced with...

Are there any Cryonics Institutes in australia?
Jul 27, 2008 by Steve Jenkins | Posted in Other - Australia
There is no cryonics storage facility in Australia. Australians just make contracts with the American organizations Alcor and Cryonics Institute if they wish to be cryopreserved. There is a Cryonics Association of Australia that provides local support (with some hope of a cryonics perfusion and storage service eventually).

are there any cryonics institutes in the state of new york?

The only cryonics organizations offering storage of cryonics patients in liquid nitrogen are located in Arizona (Alcor) and Michigan (Cryonics Institute), both of which have over 100 patients cryopreserved. (There is one storage organization in California -- Trans Time -- but it only has 2 patients). An organization in Florida (Suspended Animation, Inc.) specializes in preparing and shipping cryonics patients from anywhere in the United States to Arizona and Michigan. Otherwise, any funeral director in any state can pack a potential cryonics patient in ice and ship them to Arizona or Michigan. Alcor can do its own transport, but must work with funeral directors. Only funeral directors can ship legally deceased persons, so any shipment of cryonics must be done with funeral director assistance.
Having a cryonics organization in your state or city is not necessary for service. Suspended Animation in Florida, and in some cases Alcor, can wait by the bedside of someone dying in a hospital or hospice and apply immediate cooling and cardiopulmonary support upon pronouncement of death. Blood can be replaced with an organ preservation solution in preparation for shipping the patient to Arizona or Michigan.

Someone please make me feel better... :(?

Someone please make me feel better... :(?
Hi guys you gotta help me! My dog is pretty old, around 13, and the vet said he has a brain tumor with 2 weeks to 4 months to live. I really wish I could freeze him cryogenically. It costs 5,000 and I do not have that much!!
What would you guys do? If you could afford it, would you freeze him and hope future science can bring him back? The cryonics institute is pretty big and promises success.
Anyways, I don't know what to do. I do not have 5 thousand dollars but I keep sitting here feeling like there must be something I can do to save him. Everyone I know has poor credit, so I don't think I will be getting a loan. I just wanna take out some student loans or something.
Am I crazy? And how can I feel better about not being able to afford to save my best friend?
:...(
First of all. I don't think it is correct that the cryonics institute promises success. There aren't any guarantees with cryonics, for humans or for animals. (Otherwise everyone would get frozen.) It is very much a beta test right now. They probably are the best chance of your dog surviving, but not an absolute guarantee.
It does seem likely to me that future science will progress enough though. If you are young and healthy you can probably afford the life insurance you would need for yourself, it's only $20/month or so. (It is not likely that you will ever see your pet brought back if you aren't cryopreserved yourself -- if it works it will most likely be very far in the future.) But if you are both cryopreserved, then if it works for one of you it will is more likely to have worked for both of you. Who knows, you might talk other family members or close friends into coming along for the ride.
There are cryonics and transhumanist websites where they are very motivated to help others get signed up. So if you tell them you are going to sign yourself up, you may be able to get donations to cover your dog. It's worth a shot IMHO.

The Cryonics
Institute offers cryopreservation services and information. As soon as
possible after legal death, a member patient is infused with a substance to
prevent ice formation, cooled to a temperature where physical decay essentially
stops, and is then maintained indefinitely in cryostasis (that is, stored in
liquid nitrogen). When and if future
medical technology allows, our member patients hope to be healed, rejuvenated,
revived, and awakened to a greatly extended life in youthful good health,
free from disease or the aging process.
More than 200 bodies worldwide have been preserved after death this way since 1967, by companies like Alcor and the Cryonics Institute. Why so few? Well, besides being kind of eerie, unproven scientifically, and not well publicized, it's expensive. and more »
