stem cell created from umbilical cord blood can help muscular dystrophy?

as i know, umbilical cord blood can created stem cell that can be cure to many disease. it is because it can combine with other stem cell without problem. so if muscular dystrophy patient (which is do not have dystrophine because their stem cell can't create dystrophine in their body) receive umbilical cord blood stem cell, would the cell develop the dystrophine? if it true, i think it would be great to muscular dystrophy patient like me. sorry if my english was bad.

I don't think this is possible in current medical technology, great question!

Still research into it, but theoretically, the stem cells would not be affected by MD

What is the best umbilical cord blood stem cell preservation company?

Please only answer IF you or someone you know has banked their babies cord blood.

i would ask the hospital or check online! There are all kinds of adds in preganancy magazines!

what do you think of the cord blood stem cell sector?

i am with a company called cord blood america (cbai) and they have a very bright future. has anyone else cought wind of them and if so. what do you think

In general it is positive thinking. The medical reform bill if passed could turn that bright future to gloom doom, but may be not on another hand. So, I guess as most industries now it could go both ways.
I would not put more then 5% of my investment capital in that sector.

Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cell Research Helps Cure Cancer

Stem cell research has been a hotbed of controversy in the medical community since it was first studied in the 1960s. The use of umbilical cord blood stem cells is the least controversial of the current methodologies because it doesn't involve cloning or the destruction of an embryo. With the lack of moral and ethical objections, this branch of research has extensive potential for healing.

What are Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cells

To understand why it is important to bank an infant's umbilical cord blood it is first necessary to understand what umbilical cord blood is. According to the Concise Medical Dictionary, umbilical cord blood banked stem cells are haemopoietic stem cells collected from umbilical cord blood donated at birth, which can be stored indefinitely and used if a sibling or any other blood-compatible baby develops an illness (such as leukemia) that could only be treated by cord-blood stem-cell transplantation ("Umbilical Cord Blood Banked Stem Cells," Oxford 2010 Accessed June 2010).

In other words, it is the umbilical cord and blood that are usually discarded after the birthing process. These useful biological materials that are uniquely capable of curing many diseases are simply treated like trash.

Why is Saving Stem Cells Important ?

Stem cells are considered to be the leading candidates for cures to many illnesses. In an interview with Scott Simon on NPR’s Morning Edition, Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg, program director of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at Duke University Medical Center, said, “Cord blood is very valuable. It contains stem [cells] and what are called progenitor cells, or early blood-forming cells that can repopulate the bone marrow after a bone marrow transplant. It may also contain cells that can turn into other kinds of cells” (" Banking Umbilical Cord Blood.(1:00-2:00 PM)(Broadcast transcript)(Audio file )."
