My razor cell phone keeps freezing when I go to write texts AND when i add more contacts to my address book:( How can I make it stop. If i get a new battery will that make it stop?
Hi Allison!
I had a similar problem with my phone. My phone kept freezing when I tried to add more contact, so I contacted my manufacturer. And they said that it was a memory space issue because I had too much contact information. Non-smart phones tend to have limited memory space, so I am guessing that this is a similar issue. If you do have an issue with your Motorola RAZR cell phone battery, you might want to replace it, they are not too expensive these days. My sister picked one up at accessorygeeks.com.

In cell culture cryopreservation, why do we do slow freezing and quick thawing?
May 08, 2007 by WWLim | Posted in Biology
In meat storage, we do quick freezing and slow thawing to kill microorganisms. In cell culture, we store cell lines by slow freezing to protect the cells. However, we resuscitate cells by rapidly raising the temperature to 37 degrees celcius. How does this process help protect our cells?
I used to do cell cultures long time ago but I no longer, I'll do my best to answer. Freezing solution usually has DMSO which is toxic to the cells. While thawing, you do it quickly at 37 or between your fingers and replace the freezing solution with culture medium (has no DMSO) to prevent excessive amounts of DMSO to enter the cells.

How can sperm cell survive at very low freezing point?
Aug 24, 2009 by rokudaime | Posted in Biology
It is our assignment in General Biology,, what is the characteristic of sperm cell in surviving at freezing point??
the reason why sperm cells survive at low temperature is because of suspended animation. not only sperm cells survive at extreme temperatures, but also other cells. suspended animation is the slowing of life processes by external means without termination. yes, you may think that nothing will survive at freezing temperature, but that's not true. many microscopic organisms and cells survive in freezing climates. they do not stop their biological function; they simply slow down as to not use all of their biophysical energy.
sperm cells, like most cells, survive freezing climates because of this. they also secrete an antifreeze-like substance, which enables them to slow down, but not completely freeze.

BioCision's CoolCell – highly reproducible, superior cell freezing
Conscious cell freezing.
Eliminating the use of hazardous solvents, such as isopropanol, is a major benefit of CoolCell – helping labs reduce costs and hazardous waste. Importantly, the elimination of alcohol also means the elimination of variability in freezing runs. CoolCell delivers repeatable, constant cooling of –1ºC/minute and provides identical freezing for all samples. The result is increased reproducibility and superior cell viability and function for scientific, clinical and diagnostic procedures.
CoolCell holds 12 screw cap 2ml cryotubes and is ideal for multiple batch freezing in a –80ºC freezer. No pre-cooling is necessary, CoolCell can be placed in the freezer at any angle and freezer heating is minimized. Samples are ready for archive storage within 3 hours, while rapid recycling between freezes saves valuable time. The unbreakable, insulated design of the CoolCell ensures easy portability of frozen cells – without ‘frosty’ fingers – and the lid opens easily even when frozen.
Alcohol-filled containers need continuous maintenance, generate hazardous waste and require extended waiting between cycles. The alcohol must be replaced frequently because it changes with each freezing run, introducing an unnecessary variable into each frozen sample. CoolCell is superior in every respect, as BioCision customers are keen to testify. According to Rohit K. Gupta of Stanford University: ‘We run a registry, in which large amounts of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells are processed for long-term cryopreservation. After testing the CoolCell, we found slightly better cell viability (>90%) than with our current cell freezing containers, and there is no isopropanol waste generated. Overall, the CoolCell has set a new bar in cryopreservation.’
Sam Knight of Ceramisphere, Australia, commented: ‘One big advantage of the CoolCell is that you can use dry ice to do your freezing if you don’t have a –80ºC freezer. I spent...
